Water & Exercise

An adult's weight is made up of 50-70% water. When we exercise we lost water through sweat and must replace it by eating or drinking, or you can become dehydrated. Symptoms for dehydration include; headaches, loss of concentration and tiredness. Most adults, should consume between 1.5-3 litres of water per day, more if you are exercising.

There was a great piece on ‘Bang Goes the Theory’ on BBC recently about why we need to drink water. Presenter Dallas Campbell participates in a training session with two Olympic athletes to find out how dehydration effects his body and mind.

Dallas’ performance is monitored by performance nutritionist James Collins who discusses the importance of staying hydrated during exercise.
